Now, Kubs is bringing his Boulder values, global  perspective, and academic and entrepreneurial background to serve as a CU Regent. He is dedicated to making higher education affordable, safeguarding the student experience from policies that conflict with Colorado’s principles, and fostering a campus environment where every  student feels safe, supported in their mental health, exposed to diverse perspectives, and equipped to succeed beyond graduation."

Policy Positions

Kubs’ focus will center on the principles embodied in REACH:

  • Respect Colorado Values: Championing the principles of intellectual freedom, open inquiry, and access to diverse ideas. Kubs will protect the exchange of knowledge and foster an environment where every viewpoint can be explored respectfully and critically. Kubs will fight any attempt to ban books, interfere with labor union rights, or otherwise disrupt CU’s commitment to diversity, access, and opportunity.

  • Enrich the College Experience: Prioritizing the well-being and success of every student by promoting a supportive, safe, and healthy campus environment. This includes addressing mental health needs, fostering a sense of belonging, ensuring student safety, and guiding students toward academic achievement and graduation.

  • Affordability: Committed to keeping higher education within reach for every student by pursuing thoughtful financial strategies. This includes limiting tuition increases, expanding access to scholarships, exploring innovative public–private partnerships to reduce costs, ensuring affordable housing options, and supporting programs that ease the burden of student debt and repayment.

  • Commitment to the Environment: Promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility through action and innovation. This includes prioritizing sustainable construction practices, reducing carbon emissions, expanding the use of renewable energy sources, and minimizing reliance on plastics and other non-biodegradable materials across CU operations.

  • Help Students Prepare for Next Steps: Ensuring that CU takes an active role in equipping students with the skills, knowledge, and experience necessary to succeed in the evolving global economy. This includes fostering innovation, strengthening career readiness programs, and aligning academic preparation with the demands of emerging industries and technologies.
