Why Running

Michael Bennet is running for Governor, because governors are on the frontlines of the fight against Trump’s attacks on our economy and democracy. As Governor, Michael will stand up to Trump to keep ICE and the National Guard out of Colorado’s cities, protect the rights and freedoms Coloradans depend on, and safeguard Colorado’s democracy from political retaliation.

Policy Positions

  • Affordability: Focus on lowering the cost of living by expanding housing supply, reducing insurance and health‑care costs, improving transportation options, stabilizing energy rates, and coordinating statewide efforts to prevent homelessness.

  • Housing: Increase housing supply, streamline permitting, reduce construction costs, leverage private investment, support first‑time buyers, preserve existing affordable homes, and strengthen prevention‑focused homelessness strategies.

  • Child Care: Cut costs for families, expand financing and support for providers, strengthen the child‑care workforce through better compensation and training, and modernize regulations to reduce barriers while maintaining safety.

  • Education: Improve educator pay, build a seamless education‑to‑workforce pipeline, strengthen early learning and student supports, promote civil discourse, and invest in innovative models and emerging technologies.

  • Kid Safety: Protect children by limiting classroom cell‑phone use, strengthening online and AI safety standards, improving parental control tools, implementing privacy‑preserving age verification, and engaging families and experts in policymaking.

  • Clean Air, Affordable Energy Program: Create a long‑term, market‑based framework to meet climate targets, incentivize cleaner operations, reduce pollution, lower energy costs, and support climate‑resilient communities.

  • Standing Up to Trump: Oppose policies such as tariffs, tax cuts for the wealthy, vaccine restrictions, public‑land sell‑offs, and immigration actions
