Colorado uses a system of primaries, caucuses and assemblies to select the candidates who will appear on November’s general election ballot. Colorado primary elections are June 30, 2026. The caucuses and assemblies help determine who will appear on the ballot.
To appear on the June primary ballot, candidates must either receive support from at least 30% of the delegates at the relevant assembly (county, Congressional District or state), or have gathered sufficient registered voter signatures through a petition.
Caucuses and assemblies are YOUR OPPORTUNITY to make sure that candidates representing your values are on the June ballot.
Only registered democrats can participate in the Democratic Party's caucuses and assemblies. All registered voters can participate in the primaries but unaffiliated voters must choose in which party's primary they are going to participate.

For races other than president, the Democratic party uses a caucus and assembly process to nominate candidates. To participate in the 2026 caucuses, you must be a registered Democratic voter by February 9, 2026.Â
Precinct Caucuses:Â Voters within each precinct will meet virtually and elect a precinct organizer and representatives to the county assemblies.
Larimer County Precinct Caucus: Thursday, March 5 from 5:30-8:00pm (virtual link will be available mid-February*)
A training on how to participate in the caucus will be held on Zoom on Wednesday, February 4 at 7:00pm.
Weld County Precinct Caucus: Saturday, March 7 from 9:00am-noon (sign up here)
County Assembly: Representatives to the county assemblies will nominate primary candidates for county-level offices and select delegates to the state, congressional district, and multi-county assemblies.Â
Larimer County Assembly: March 7 9:30am - 1:00pm (virtual link will be available mid-February*)
Weld County Assembly: Saturday, March 14 starting at 9am at the Doubletree by Hilton in Greeley, CO
Congressional District Assemblies for CD2, CD4 and CD8: March 26. If you are elected Delegate to one of these districts from the County Assembly, you will receive an Official Call from the Colorado Democratic Party with details.
State Assembly:Â Delegates to the State Assembly will select primary candidates for congressional, judicial district, and statewide offices. The State Assembly is March 28 and will be held in Pueblo, CO.
Caucuses are a great way to meet other Democratic voters in your precinct and have your say regarding the platform for the state party. Only voters who are registered as Democrats as of February 16Â may participate in the caucus.
