Boebert Empty Chair Town Hall

New and Improved Lauren Boebert Town Halls Held in Loveland and Lone Tree

Two town halls were held in Congresswoman Lauren Boebert’s Congressional District 4 on April 26 to provide an opportunity for her constituents to hear her stance on topics of concern to Coloradoans. The Congresswoman was invited to both but did not respond to the invitations. They were held in Loveland and Lone Tree, Colorado. Approximately 180 constituents (as far away as Bennett) and organizers attended the event in Loveland. Approximately 260 participated in Lone Tree.

Members of IndivisibleNOCO and Indivisible Douglas County groups in Congressional District 4 stood in for the Congresswoman. Participants asked questions on topics from voting rights to the economy. The Congresswoman’s substitutes responded using her own words, quoted from the public arena. Questioners countered misinformation within those quotes. Responses also included personal experiences that grounded the audience in the reality of the impact of the Trump Administration’s actions on Coloradoans.

“Although the GOP claims they will not slash funding for Medicaid and Medicare, there’s absolutely no way to reduce federal spending by $880 billion without cutting these vital programs,” stated a local Social Security beneficiary.  “My husband and I paid into Social Security for decades and to cut it or take it away now would be devastating.”

The events concluded with a reminder to participants that they have the capacity and the right to be heard by staying informed and reaching out to their Congressional representatives with their concerns. The moderator and several speakers strongly encouraged participants to contact their Senators this week about the upcoming vote on the SAVE Act.
