Volunteer with local registration groups. These organizations already have the infrastructure, training, and legal compliance in place. They often need:
Table volunteers at community events
People to help with data entry
Phone/text outreach to unregistered voters
Help distributing information in multilingual communities
Look for nonpartisan groups such as:
League of Women Voters
NAACP local chapters
Voto Latino
When We All Vote
Campus-based civic engagement centers
Support registration drives in suppression‑heavy states. States with recent restrictive laws often rely heavily on out‑of‑state volunteers. If you’re not local, you can still help with:
Remote phone/text banks
Donations to grassroots organizers
Amplifying their events and deadlines
Helping with digital outreach and translation
See our blog on Voter Registration: Who’s Doing the Work in Key States. We provide a list of major organizations running voter registration drives in red states and links to those organizations. Consider donating to these groups. Even small donations help cover printing forms, event fees, transportation, multilingual materials and legal compliance. Drive turnout through relational organizing. The most effective tool in modern democracy is still a personal conversation. Talk to neighbors, co-workers, family members and the “quiet” voters who regret their last vote but don’t know how to talk about it. People are far more likely to register and vote when someone they trust asks them directly.
