This includes investigating deaths while a person is in custody, or within 24 hours of being admitted to a hospital, as well as all fatal traffic deaths, homicides, and suicides.”

While these investigations are based on scientific evidence and non-partisan, the position does involve community interaction. As incumbent Larimer County Coroner Stephen Hanks explains, the Coroner will, “work closely with various groups focused on issues of suicide awareness and prevention, Fentanyl and other substance abuse issues, gun violence, and traffic accidents.”
