Colorado’s current ballot language rules already require clear titles, specific information about tax increases or decreases, and a clear explanation of what is to be amended, added, or repealed. If this initiative is approved it will strip some of those requirements to leave voters less informed. 
 

The Bell Policy Center says, “While this initiative may seem to be about ensuring ballot questions are easily understood, it will actually make voters less informed by stripping out important provisions that alert voters to the impacts of tax changes on their pocketbooks and state and local budgets.” 
 

In addition, putting this in the Colorado Constitution may prevent future legislators from being able to respond to unforeseen circumstances, or to enact improved criteria in the future. 
 

The Colorado Times Recorder reports that this initiative is supported by Advance Colorado, a right-wing “dark money” group that sponsors a large number of conservative ballot initiatives in Colorado.
